Moving to April Sound on Lake Conroe

Posted by Allyson Ayton

April Sound is an underestimated hidden gem located on FM 105 in Conroe. This private gated country club community has some unique qualities that should not be overlooked. When through the guard shack there are around 2500 homes with a population of approximately 3200.

Once considered to be a retirement community the demographics have now shifted and the 35-55 year age range has made a dramatic increase to the residents. The lure of living in a gated community with access to both golf and Lake Conroe, plus feeding into the Montgomery schools has made this a desirable full time home for many families.

April Sound prides itself on its active community spirit with a Ladies Association and Mens Asociation which meet separately each month for a social gathering. Members can also participate in any number of the activity clubs that are offered and be fully entertained every day should they wish. There is also an active civic association made up of volunteers who work tirelessly year round to raise funds for projects and activities for residents. Events are held at Easter, July 4th, Halloween and Christmas and are open to all residents at no charge.

Club corp bought out the country club recently and residents have use of indoor and outdoor tennis courts, 3 golf courses, 3 pools, a gym and the country club. The restaurant works hard to come up with its own activities and there are daily specials to the menu. There is something very special about your wait staff all knowing you and your beverage of choice. If you eat at the restaurant you can plan on seeing a friend or neighbor happy to stop by for a quick chat. Should you prefer to eat alone, uninterrupted in a corner the staff will work hard to accommodate you too.

Home prices have seen a rise of 6.37% in the past 12 months with an average price of $200,740. There is a steady turnover of properties varying from condos to patio homes to lakefront living. With such a variety you are sure to find a home to suit your taste, unless you are wanting to have horses on your property in which case we will need to look elsewhere for you!!!!
