Houston's Simply Irresistible Instagram-able Locations

When you live near Houston and you want some Instagram-able locations for photos you must consider one of these amazing settings. Come on, let’s explore where photographers are planning their next photo shoot. You, too, can duplicate memorable photos in fun and unique settings.

First up, let’s head over to Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park located at 2800 Post Oak Blvd. to see the multi-story sculptural fountain that sits opposite the south face of Williams Tower in the Uptown District. Photos with the cascading waterfalls in the background or under the towering canopy of live oaks will be stunning.

Another favorite spot among photographers is a 445-acre urban park named Hermann Park. Situated at the southern end of the Museum District, this park is located immediately north of the Texas Medical Center and Brays Bayou, east of Rice University, and slightly west of the Third Ward. For a bit of whimsy, check out the carousel, train, or pedal boats for interesting photo ops. With an array of monuments, sculptures, and fountains a photographer has many options to create unique settings. Don’t forget to check out the Art in the Park for bursts of color and surprise or the McGovern Centennial Gardens which is a collection of gardens in Hermann Park.

Next up, be sure to explore Buffalo Bayou Park at Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street between Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive where you’ll find gorgeous gardens and native landscaping. Don’t overlook the flattering play of lighting in the early morning or near sunset around the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. Be sure to check out the Sabine Street Bridge for photos along the bridge with the lamplights and the skyline. This is particularly lovely in the morning or late day.

Smither Park located at 2441 Munger Street is an incredible urban green space with a quirky collection of large mosaic sculptures created by local artists. The mosaic art creations offer a photographer so much inspiration to capture photos that are sure to become family favorites.

When you’re inspired by colorful artwork and wants pops of color as your backdrop, it’s a natural choice to take photos at the Biscuit Paint Wall. This multi-hued wall, on the side of the Montrose home goods and decor store, Biscuit Home, is located at 1435 Westheimer Road.

The Color Factory is a quirky art space filled with immersive, colorful installations, featuring a ball pit and balloons. Found at 3303 Kirby Drive, you’ll have so much fun interacting with their immersive displays. You can’t help but find inspiration and getting creative around this art space.

When you can’t travel to the Taj Mahal, you do the next best thing, visit BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir located at 1150 Brand Lane, Stafford where you’ll find breathtaking architecture around the temple grounds. While this is place of worship and prayer for followers of Hinduism, the grounds are open to visitors of all faiths.
