If you don't know by now, Houston, Texas is not only known for its vibrant culture, diverse population, and delicious cuisine, but also for its thriving retirement communities and senior housing options. With Houston's warm climate, affordable cost of living, and a plethora of amenities, H-Town has become a popular destination for retirees looking for an active and fulfilling retirement.

Depending on what level of care or style of living retirees are looking for Houston and its surrounding areas may have just the community for you. As discussed in a previous blog post, Retire in Houston, Texas: A Realtor's Guide to Your Golden Years'' there is more than one key factor that makes retiring in Houston right for you.

I'd like to continue the discussion on what makes Houston the best place to retire by sharing a few communities my clients enjoy living in. In this blog post, in no particular order I'll highlight some of the best 55+ communities and senior living options in Houston, along with the services available for retirees in said communities.

Del Webb The Woodlands and Sweetgrass

Located just north of Houston in The Woodlands, Del Webb offers a luxurious retirement community designed specifically for active adults age 55 and over. This community provides resort-style amenities, including a clubhouse, fitness center, golf courses, and walking trails. Residents can enjoy a lively social calendar with various clubs and activities, making it easy to stay engaged and active.

Del Webb Sweetgrass is located in Southwest Houston in the town of Richmond, Texas and offers the same amenities as Del Webb The Woodlands with additional amenities of a theater and fishing pier. Eagle's Trace

Eagle's Trace, situated in West Houston, is a continuing care retirement community that provides a range of senior living options, including independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care. Eagle Trace Senior living provides residents with the comforts of long term care combined with apartment living.

This gives residents peace of mind, knowing they can age in place with access to necessary healthcare services when needed. The community offers numerous dining options, fitness facilities, and a vibrant social scene. Pricing for a one bedroom and 1 bathroom room begins at $148,000.

The Village of River Oaks

The Village of River Oaks offers a prime location near Houston's renowned Galleria area. This independent living community provides spacious apartments and a host of amenities, such as a heated pool, fitness center, and gourmet dining options. The central location allows residents to easily access upscale shopping, dining, and cultural attractions.

Residents can choose between an array of space pet-friendly apartments homes including a memory care suite or semi private memory care suite. Some amenities include movie nights and ice cream socials, fitness activities, parties and dances, and much more.

Parkway Place

Parkway Place, located in West Houston, offers a faith-based senior living experience. They provide independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care services. The community fosters a sense of belonging and purpose with spiritual programs, social activities, and beautiful gardens for residents to enjoy.
