Spring Branch, a neighborhood located on the northwest side of Houston, was originally established in the 1830s by German farmers. Many of the street names and landmarks still bear the name of the original residents - Gessner, Conrad Sauer, Hillendahl, Witte, Voss, Wirt and many more. Over the generations this part of Houston evolved from a farming area to a major residential area that has little resemblance to its rural origin, although some older residents still cherish memories of open fields and cattle grazing.

Since its establishment, Spring Branch has experienced exponential growth in population. The increase in population is driven by its central location, established neighborhoods and access to many amenities. Spring Branch offers a wide variety of options for shopping centers, restaurants and easy access to major highways, in addition to providing a favorable commute to main job centers - Energy Corridor, Downtown, Galleria, and Medical Center.

Many new residents were first attracted by the large trees that fill most Spring Branch neighborhoods, providing important shade during the heat of summer and a feeling of nature in the city. There are also parks and green areas to walk dogs, exercise and relax. The first phase of the Spring Branch Trail, a segment in a planned trail network connecting the Addicks Reservoir trails on the west to the White Oak Bayou Greenway Trail on the east, is now open and invites cyclist and walkers to exercise.

Restaurants are plentiful and serve food from every cuisine imaginable. From Korean to Thai, Mexican to Italian, Vietnamese to Salvadorean, Polish to Middle Eastern, there is something for everyone's palate.
